We desperately want people to change.
We are uncomfortable around people who are UBER SINFUL, probably because we forget
how sinful we are!
We come in contact with people who are caught in sin and our
immediate response is something like, “YOU
NEED TO CHANGE! YOU NEED TO STOP LIVING THAT WAY!”
When was the last time you came in contact with someone who
was not living the way you thought they should and said, “I LOVE YOU…JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!”
I’m talking about ADULTERERS,
DRUG ADDICTS, LIARS, THIEVES, DRUNKS, and THE LIKE.
Some religious dude asked Jesus to give him the most important
instruction in life. Jesus responded by saying, “LOVE GOD! LOVE OTHERS!”
We are not supposed to change people! In fact, we can’t
change people. That’s not our task! That’s God’s department. We’re supposed to love
people, all people.
We are ordered to love people who are close to God and
people who are really far away.
Loving someone isn’t the same thing as loving their sin, but
thankfully GOD LOVES US IN SPITE OF OUR
“GOD DEMONSTRATES HIS OWN LOVE FOR US IN THIS:
WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.” Romans 5:8
God loved you in
the midst of your SINFULNESS! His
love for you was strong when you were all kinds of NASTY! When you were at your WORST,
Jesus loved you!
Let’s become the MANIFESTATION
OF JESUS CHRIST today by loving people, all people, even in their sin!
You are not
supposed to change people, you’re just supposed to love them!
WHO DO YOU NEED TO LOVE TODAY?
Grace & Peace, Marc
